Seva

Seva means selfless service performed with humility and without expectation of recognition or reward. At Dukh Bhanjan Gurmat Center, volunteers help support classes, events, Langar, administration, maintenance and community programs.

You do not need special experience to begin. A sincere willingness to help is valuable.

Langar Seva

Preparing ingredients, cooking, serving food, washing dishes, cleaning the kitchen, organising supplies and setting up the dining area.

Teaching Seva

Supporting Gurmukhi, Gurbani reading, Santhiya, Kirtan, tabla, Sikh history, youth mentoring or classroom activities.

Event Seva

Helping with setup, registration, seating, welcoming guests, children’s activities, sound, photography, stage coordination and cleanup.

Administrative Seva

Assisting with registration records, calls, emails, scheduling, website updates, posters, announcements, accounting support and outreach.

Cleaning and Maintenance

General cleaning, organising classrooms, restocking supplies, outdoor cleanup, minor maintenance and preparing spaces for programs.

Youth Seva

Supervised, age-appropriate opportunities that help youth develop responsibility, confidence and connection with the Sangat.

Teaching and Youth Safety

Teaching and youth-related roles may require an application, interview, references, background screening or training, depending on the responsibilities involved. The center may also limit certain roles to approved volunteers.
