Programs

Dukh Bhanjan Gurmat Center offers religious, educational and community programs for children, youth, adults and families. Program availability may depend on enrolment, volunteers, instructors and seasonal schedules.

Gurmukhi Classes

Students learn the Gurmukhi alphabet, letter sounds, matras, word formation, reading, writing, vocabulary and reading fluency. Classes may be available for beginners, developing readers and adults.

Gurbani Santhiya

Santhiya helps students improve correct pronunciation, recognition of Gurmukhi sounds, appropriate pauses, reading confidence, respectful handling of Gurbani and consistent personal practice.

Kirtan Classes

Depending on available instructors, lessons may include harmonium, tabla, rhythm, vocal practice, Shabad pronunciation, melody, group Kirtan and respectful presentation.

Sikh History

Students learn about the Sikh Gurus, Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s travels and teachings, the creation of the Khalsa, the Sahibzaade, Mata Gujri Ji, Sikh personalities, historic Gurdwaras and important events.

Youth Programs

Youth programs provide a space for teenagers and young adults to discuss Sikh identity, leadership, modern challenges and community responsibility.

Family Programs

Family programs may include Gurpurab celebrations, parenting workshops, family Kirtan, community meals, Gurmat discussions, educational trips and Seva days.

Gurmat Camps

Seasonal camps may be organised during school holidays. Activities can include Gurmukhi, Gurbani, Kirtan, Sikh history, arts and crafts, presentations, team activities, sports, Langar Seva and discussions about Sikh identity.

Workshops and Special Sessions

The center may organise workshops on Gurbani pronunciation, Sikh parenting, youth challenges, Sikh identity, turban tying, Kirtan, Sikh history, mental well-being, community leadership and volunteer training.

Program Participation

Some programs are open to everyone, while others may require registration because of limited space, instruments, learning materials or instructor availability. Contact the center to confirm the current schedule and requirements.
